As if the season hasn’t been ugly enough, the Maryland Terrapins put the cherry on top with a 17-13 loss to the Duke Blue Devils.
It was a typical Maryland performance, as the Terps had several opportunities for a game-changing play and couldn’t make it happen.
Instead, the Terps turned the ball over twice late in the fourth quarter as they tried to mount the game-winning drive.
Quarterback Chris Turner continues to be a big problem for the offense, as his carelessness with the ball is costing the Terps each game.
He also stares down his receivers so much that it allows defensive lineman to bat down a ton of his passes at the line of scrimmage.

In a bizarre story, Chris Turner’s father wrote on a Maryland message board that he wants athletic director Debbie Yow fired.
His father wrote that Yow is not doing a good job and that she needs to go for the good of the school.
He also said that head coach Ralph Friedgen needs to be given the same help that other top football programs received from their athletic department.
Yow said that she has talked to Turner’s father on occasion and it has always been a pleasant conversation.
She said she could not comment on what he said not knowing what might have sparked his outburst.
Turner is the team’s starting quarterback and has struggled, like the rest of the Terps, through much of this season.

The Maryland Terrapins saw their season hit a new low with a 20-9 loss to the rival Virginia Cavaliers on Homecoming.
Maryland had a 9-3 lead in the second half before a Chris Turner interception was run back for a touchdown.
The Terps would drive into Virginia territory a couple more times but were never able to find the end zone.
The Cavaliers tacked on another touchdown and a field goal to seal yet another bitter loss for the Terrapins.
Maryland will have to regroup for their road contest against the Duke Blue Devils Saturday.

The Maryland Terrapins got off to the ACC part of their schedule in a big way by upsetting heavily favored Clemson, 24-21.
Maryland fell behind 10-0 early in the game and it looked like it could get out of hand in a real hurry.
However, the Terps battled back and grabbed momentum in the second half, taking control of the game.
It also didn’t hurt that Clemson missed two long field goal attempts in the fourth quarter that could have tied the game.
The Terps face Wake Forest next week as they try to move to 2-0 in the ACC.
